Corporate Controller - 65k-85k

We are seeking an experienced Controller with an accounting / finance management background to join the management team. Experience in the Staffing, Printing or Design industry a plus. This position is located at our Corporate Headquarters in Boston.

This position requires strong leadership skills . The position requires a high degree of multi-tasking and the ability to learn and do our current process and recommend future improvements.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an exceptional Controller with a demonstrated track record of success to lead the evolution of the finance function at the Company. The successful candidate will have technical skills and financial management expertise, including demonstrated experience in a Staffing or Printing environment. The Controller will be responsible for designing and implementing key finance procedures and controls at the Company. The position requires a high degree of multi-tasking and the ability to learn our current process and recommend future improvements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounting: Responsible for maintenance of company accounting records (Sub S and LLC) to include General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable. Reconcile checking accounts, savings accounts, Line of Credit and inter-company accounts monthly. Prepare and enter journal entries as needed. Responsible for month end close and preparation of Financial Statements. Provide outside accountant with quarterly financial statement for review. Prepare cash basis financial statements for income tax position as needed. File monthly Financial Statements with Bank.

Reports: Create budget and compare to operating results, provide report to partners weekly. Update graphs and statistical data reports to partners weekly. File the Borrowing Base Certificate with the Bank monthly. Prepare weekly cash collection forecast and update cash position daily to Partners. Prepare and file State and Local property tax returns and permit renewals.

Oversight:: Advise Staff on Human Resource, Workmen’s Compensation, Benefits and general business issues. Maintain adequate Liability and Property insurance coverage. Work with outside auditors for quarterly reviews and tax prep.

  • Prepare financial statements weekly
  • Work with brokers and vendors to purchase insurance
  • maintain bank and vendor relationships
  • Process timely monthly closes
  • Prepare and oversee G/L entries
  • Oversee A/P & A/R functions
  • Reporting and Accounting functions as needed

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A thorough understanding of financial systems and processes (required)
  • A strong grasp of different financing structures and options (required)
  • Experience working in the Staffing or Printing industries (required)
  • Experience with small business (desirable)
  • Customer-service orientation
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends and / or evenings as needed
  • A motivated individual with a strong desire to work in a team-based environment
  • Highly energetic, solution driven and flexible in his/her interpersonal style
  • Capability to adhere to stringent timetables and capacity to manage multiple work streams
  • At least 5 years of experience with industry experience a plus
  • Strong undergraduate academic background
  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities
  • Proficient computer skills including the ability to operate computerized Accounting (Mass 90), spreadsheet and word processing programs, and email

MUST HAVE STAFFING EXPERIENCE

Job Description:

  • Make outbound sales/telemarketing calls to potential and current clients. (40-60 calls per day)
  • Sell to the potential client and current clients’ services offered by Semper LLC.
  • Qualify needs for staffing and payrolling.
  • Identify talent via job posting responses, reverse resume searches, internet searches, and networking events.
  • Skill-market candidates to current and prospect clients via email and/or phone.
  • Interview and select candidates for job placement based on client requirements.
  • Manage applicant process and client follow up.
  • Email, follow-up and follow through with any and all inquiries related to job opportunities, job orders and services provided.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of staffing and/or service sales experience. Telemarketing experience a plus!
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Assertive, highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Personable, problem-solver and team player.
  • People-person who can effectively communicate via telephone and e-mail communications and successfully overcome objections to secure an in-person appointment for our outside sales staff.
  • Ability to multi-task and to sell.
